Political Consultations between Argentina and South Africa

Political Consultations between Argentina and South Africa took place in Pretoria on September 14th.

The meeting was co-chaired by the South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr. Alvin Botes and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic, Mr. Pablo Tettamanti.

During the meeting, the countries went through the status of the bilateral relation, and issues related to trade and investment, cooperation in agriculture, science and technology, human rights, energy, art and culture, sports, tourism, defense, ocean affairs, among others.

Deputy Minister Tettamanti also congratulated his counterpart for the success of the BRICS Summit and thanked South Africa for their efforts to reach a consensus on the expansion of the group and the invitation to Argentina to join it.

They were also able to share the points of view on issues of the multilateral agenda.

Argentina and South Africa maintain friendly relations and have recently celebrated 30 years since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations.

South Africa is Argentina's main trading partner in Sub-Saharan Africa and our country is the fourth largest trading partner of South Africa in the American continent.
