The Aeronautical Authorities of the Argentine Republic and the Republic of South Africa have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in civil aviation and updating the bilateral air services framework, in line with developments in the international regulatory environment.
The understanding establishes, among other aspects, a commitment to work on the text of a new Bilateral Air Services Agreement; the granting of third, fourth and fifth freedoms of the air for cargo flights, and third and fourth freedoms for passenger flights, with the possibility of evaluating requests for fifth freedoms on a case-by-case basis; as well as the conditions for the operation of services, including up to three weekly passenger frequencies per side and up to seven weekly cargo frequencies per side, as well as the possibility of implementing code-sharing arrangements subject to approval by the competent authorities.
