We met with South Africa’s newly appointed Minister of Agriculture, Willie Aucamp, to discuss the main priorities of the bilateral agricultural agenda. During the meeting, we reviewed the bilateral sanitary agenda and the next steps needed to safeguard, strengthen, and expand trade in agricultural and livestock products between Argentina and South Africa.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance both countries attach to strengthening technical cooperation and promoting trade based on robust sanitary standards, recognizing the strategic role of the agricultural sector in both economies.
Discussions also continued on cooperation in the fight against foot-and-mouth disease. The Minister, his team, and representatives of the Argentine company Biogénesis Bagó reviewed the progress achieved to date and the opportunities arising from South Africa’s new policies aimed at increasing private sector participation in the importation and distribution of vaccines.
Through these efforts, Argentina continues to strengthen its cooperation with South Africa in the fields of animal health, technological innovation, and agricultural development.
