Seminar: 30 years since Asunción Treaty's signature - Building bridges between Mercosur and South Africa

On the 8th of April 2021, on the ocassion of the celebrations for the 30 years of MERCOSUR, the Embassy of Argentina in South Africa (as charing Argentina this semester the MERCOSUR) hosted with the Embassies of Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay in South Africa a webinar titled, "30 years since Asunción Treaty's signature  - Building bridges between Mercosur and South Africa ".

The panelists were Ambassador Xavier Carim who is the Deputy Director General: International Trade and Economic Development at the Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa, Dr. Philani Mthembu who is the Executive Director at the Institute for Global Dialogue and Mr Peter Fabricius, an independent journalist and analyst on foreign policy issues, writing mainly for the Daily Maverick, a South African newspaper, and the Institute for Security Studies.

The seminar was based on the relationship between Mercosur and SACU, particularly with South Africa and how to strenghten ties between South-South and to deepen the integration in different levels.
