African School of Humanitarian Forensic Action 2017

On the 11th September, the Fifth edition of the African School of Forensic Humanitarian Action began at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pretoria.

Since the first course in 2012, the Embassy of Argentina in South Africa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Argentine Horizontal Cooperation Fund, co-sponsors this African School that is organized by the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF) with the collaboration of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the University of Pretoria.

The three week course is attended by 22 experts from Burundi, Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Georgia, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zimbabwe

The objective of the African School of Forensic Humanitarian Action is the transfer of knowledge to forensic experts of different African countries forensic investigation techniques, recovery and identification of human remains in cases of missing persons, mass disasters and criminal cases and coordination of forensic operations between the different agencies involved in forensic investigations
